For ACGPUBS we built the congress platform after the journal platform: every congress fully self manageable, with program, speakers, tickets and direct card payments, connected to the published journal articles. Below you can read which problem it solves and how we built it.
ACGPUBS organises international scientific congresses and publishes the resulting articles in its own journals. The organisation itself though was stuck in manual work: every congress website was a separate project, program changes meant calling a developer, registrations came in through email and payments through bank transfers that took days to match.
While the journals already ran on a modern platform, the congress side still lived in pdfs and spreadsheets. And the articles resulting from a congress ended up in the journal platform after the fact, disconnected from the congress page where it all started.

We built a congress platform fully managed by the organisation itself. Every congress, from announcement to archive, sits as its own record in the system with its own content blocks, speakers, program, tickets and payments. Adding a new congress takes an afternoon instead of a build project.
The connection with the journal platform we built earlier for ACGPUBS works one way in the best sense: a congress gets linked to the right journal issue, and the articles with DOI automatically appear on the congress page once published.
Invitation letter, topics, target audience, travel information, sponsorship, cancellation policy, committees and contact: everything is filled in per congress in a word processor. The status decides whether a congress is upcoming, active, archived or hidden.
Congress days with sessions per time slot, room and speaker, rearranged directly in the admin panel. A program that changes until the week before kickoff is not a problem but simply work.
Speakers with photo, title and bio, committee members per congress, and sponsor boards with main, partner and supporter tiers. A presentation with which a congress positions itself seriously.
Participants register, pick their ticket and pay by card on the site itself. The payment gateway talks to thirteen Turkish banks and processes four currencies. Free tickets neatly skip payment. Card details are never stored.
Ticket types with options that affect the price, composed per congress. What used to be a spreadsheet full of conditions is now a configuration that calculates straight through at registration.
A congress gets linked to the right issue of the journal platform, and the published articles appear with authors and DOI on the congress page. The scientific evaluation stays where it belongs, visibility comes together.
Venue, hotels and points of interest as markers on an interactive map, managed per congress. Participants from outside the city find their way without sending a single email.
Upcoming congresses with countdown, searchable by category, country, city and topic, with proper metadata and sitemap. Past congresses land with their publications in the archive, permanently findable.
